Unique Wedding Grand Exit Ideas: Making It Your Own

Planning a grand wedding exit can feel like a mammoth task.

But fret not, dear brides-to-be.

Here we lay out the roadmap to orchestrate your grand exit with flair and finesse.

Let's dive right in.

When should you have your grand exit?

This sounds like a silly question because you have your grand exit right before you leave the reception for the night…right?

Well, possibly!

Timing of your grand exit depends on a few different factors. The golden rule? Have your grand exit when as many of your guests are present as possible.

There are two options:

  1. Have your grand exit when you are leaving the ceremony site. This could be as you walk down the aisle or as you leave the chapel/church.

  2. Have your grand exit after the reception has concluded. The big tip here is not to have your reception end too late. You will loose over half of your guests after dinner and you want to make sure that your exit fills full for photos and just sentimental.

What should you do for your grand exit?

Sparklers, confetti cannons or even a horse-drawn carriage; choose props that align with your wedding theme and style. When you Pinterest ALL of the options, there really are SO many to choose.

I recommend being cognizant and aware of the rules that are outlined by your venue. Many venues do not allow for fireworks (including sparklers) or items that make a big mess that is hard to clean up.

You will also want to think through a plan A & B for the grand exit just as you would your ceremony incase there is a case of unseasonable weather. You will want to make sure you can do your grand exit inside or outside.

Here are our top grand exit items:

Coordinate with your vendors

Finally, you will want to make sure to coordinate your grand exit with all of your vendors.

You will first want to make sure your venue approves of your grand exit plan. If they have restrictions, work with them on ideas that they have seen work well in the past and gain their suggestions.

Coordinate the timing and announcement with your DJ. The most awkward grand exits are those that are not announced and guests don’t know what to do or when it is happening.

Ask your photographer to provide suggestions on timing and location as they might have a strong opinion depending on lighting and coordinating guests.

You will also want to task a family member, friend or wedding planner with handing out the prop or coordinating the guests to get to the correct spot for the grand exit.

Here is a template that can help guide your guests to what the grand exit “plan” is!

A grand wedding exit isn’t just a grand finale.

It’s the thrilling last note of your wedding symphony.

Cheers! to stunning grand exit photos that will live on - forever!
